Recently, we received feedback from a customer regarding their electric furnace, indicating that the temperature controller was unable to heat normally according to the set temperature and that the voltage and current meters were not displaying readings. In response to this issue, our technical team quickly initiated an investigation to ensure the customer’s production was not affected.

First, we conducted a short-circuit test on the thermocouple to confirm whether there were any changes in the temperature controller's readings. The test results showed that the temperature readings of the controller had not changed and were still displaying incorrect temperatures. This result helped us rule out the possibility of thermocouple failure. Next, we checked the connectivity of all components in the circuit to ensure there were no electrical faults.

Upon careful examination, we identified that the problem lay with the temperature controller itself. It is important to note that this electric furnace uses the temperature controller to directly trigger the silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR), while the temperature controller sent over required a trigger mechanism to control the SCR, resulting in an incorrect triggering method. To resolve this issue, we quickly sourced another temperature controller with the same triggering method and replaced it.

Tips and Recommendations

To assist other customers in troubleshooting similar issues, here are some suggestions:

  1. Thermocouple Testing: Perform a short-circuit test on the thermocouple to check for changes in the temperature controller’s readings.

  2. Circuit Inspection: Examine the connectivity of all components in the circuit to ensure there are no loose connections or breaks.

  3. Temperature Controller Settings: Confirm that the setting method of the temperature controller matches that of the original device to avoid issues arising from mismatches.

  4. Spare Parts Preparation: Keep a backup temperature controller with the same triggering method on hand for quick replacement in emergencies.

Through this series of troubleshooting and adjustments, we successfully resolved the customer's temperature controller issue, ensuring the normal operation of the electric furnace. This incident not only enhanced customer satisfaction with our service but also further validated our team's rapid response capability and professionalism in the face of challenges.
